Why I love birth work
I’ve always loved babies. My parents fostered and adopted, my husband and I have welcomed six children—three by birth and three by adoption—and over the years I’ve run a day home, served in children’s ministry, and supported many friends as they grew their families. Being with babies and loving on them has always felt natural and life-giving.
Along the way, my heart has grown even deeper for mamas. Being raised by an incredible mother, having the honor of motherhood for nearly three decades, and watching my daughters-in-love step so beautifully into that role has shown me just how sacred motherhood is. But I’ve also seen how hard it can be—personally and in the lives of others. In a culture that praises getting back on your feet, getting back to work, getting back in your skinny jeans, we often miss the quiet beauty of slowing down, settling in, and honoring this tender season.
Not only is a baby born—so is a mother. Support, encouragement, and presence matter deeply during this time.
That is why I do this work.
